Owner of PlaySugarHouse and BetRivers online betting apps, Rush Street Interactive [RSI] have become the newest sports wagering partner. RSI now carries a license for conducting all its sports betting activities in Connecticut. The CLC or Connecticut Lottery Corporation Association selected RSI for the first time back on 6th July 2021. But CLC didn’t make any announcement because they wanted to do some private negotiation with the firm regarding the whole partnership.

Making The Announcement

sports bettingAfter CLC and RSI completed their discussion over their upcoming partnership deal, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation Association made the announcement during their live Zoom press conference. The declaration of the partnership was made on Wednesday, just like how CLC promised to do.

But they did not mention what type of brand Rush Street Interactive will utilize for the sports wagering activities within the state. But the laws of the state of Connecticut might prevent RSI from using BetRivers. It’s because land-based casino games are not permitted within the state.

This stands out as one of the latest developments stemming from one of the bills signed way back in May 2021. HB 6451 permitted the CLC to have their very own sports betting space within the online platform. So, the law has allowed Connecticut to launch its sports betting, iLottery sales, online casino, and poker.

But out of everything, the state requires approval from the Bureau of Indian Affairs of the US Department. This will help approve all the amendments of the state’s gambling pact with the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes.

RSI Joins FanDuel And DraftKings

Along with the announcement made by CLC on their partnership with RSI, the scenario in Connecticut is quite clear and profitable for gamers. DraftKings Sportsbook is partnered up with the Mashantucket Pequot tribes to conduct all the sports wagering activities. On the other hand, the tribe’s Foxwood Resort Casino has taken the responsibility to host the retail sportsbook of DraftKings.

Apart from that, FanDuel is partnered up with the Mohegan tribe. But it’s still pretty unclear how prominent the FanDuel branding is because the entire partnership is currently running under Mohegan Digital. These are only three operators permitted to conduct sports betting activities under tribal laws and state laws.

FanDuel and DraftKings are fully allowed to conduct online wagering activities within Connecticut and provide poker activities as well. On the other hand, Rush Street Interactive [RSI] will only offer sports betting within the state.

What’s Next

Sports betting is now available in Connecticut. All thanks to the partnership between Rush Street Interactive and CLC, individuals across the state who love sports betting can conduct such activities within Connecticut in a hassle-free manner. People are also looking forward to the type of sports that will be available for wagering and the features that RSI has in-store for them.
