Operators Selected For Mobile Sports Betting License In New York

Andy Brown Published: Nov 23, 2021

World-famous gambling operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM are the three big names picked out for the mobile sports wagering market in New York. Online Pokers Report dubbed them the “BIG 3” because they have a solid online presence due to their products and services.

Among the “BIG 3”, one of them has already made plans to offer iGaming in the Empire State. But the operators who were chosen by the NYSGC or New York State Gaming Commission will have the same starting line, and that is mobile sports wagering.

Important Things To Know

All the operators who made the cut or got selected by NYSGC received heartfelt congratulations from the iDEA or ‘iDevelopment and Economic Association Growth’. They also include four more operators, who also carry a solid reputation in the online platform, and the B2B gambling provider, which operates and serves at the online wagering market. According to Twitter, here is what iDEA tweeted:

“NY has picked out some great winners!! Congratulations to all the iDEA members, @PointsBetUSA, @FanDuel, @KambiSports, @DraftKings, and @EntainGroup. They will surely bring safe, secure, fun, legal, and regulated #sportsbetting in the Empire State. Not to mention all those members to supply and support at this particular market.”

The tweet from iDEA was pretty helpful for those who had no idea what was going on at the NY gambling marketplace. The NYSGC held a meeting through a conference call instead of a video call. They stated they were experiencing some technical difficulties with the switch for which video call was possible.

Furthermore, NYSGC selected five more entities for mobile sports wagering: Bally Bet, Caesar’s Sportsbook, WynnBET, Resorts World, and Rush Street Interactive.

Statement Made By BetMGM On NY License

On November 3rd, 2021, the CEO of MGM, Bill Hornbuckle, stated that he is interested in bringing online casino wagering to NY.

But yesterday, after the news of NYSGC picking out operators for the sports betting in NY went viral, BetMGM, one of the chosen operators, shared a few words. The CEO of BetMGM, Adam Greenblatt, tweeted that New York carries the power to become the biggest sports wagering market in the country.

He also stated that BetMGM could become the leader within the state, given the “M” size of the customer database. He ensured that they have dominated with their presence in the other states and will surely do so in New York.

Implication Of The iGaming Aids For The Future

When looking at the other US states, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and PointsBet are already conducting wagering activities and taking in names for the opt-in customers.

Apart from that, brands that received a license yesterday have a casino arm. But some of them are utilizing their expertise through retail casinos like Resorts World and Bally Corporation.

Even when these operators have obtained the license from NYSGC will not only get the chance to pivot right into the market. But they will surely receive priority treatment from the regulatory authorities if these operators have an excellent track record.

Final Thoughts

Some of the best operators for online wagering have received a license from NYSGC to conduct sports betting activities online in NY. Now, NY bettors can easily place wagers from their favorite teams, players, and sports without any hassle.
